Mannequin

Materials Needed: None

In pairs, first one person, and then the other is the mannequin. The mannequin stands as still as possible (of course, breathing, blinking, and swallowing are okay!).

The mannequin is moved into position by the partner, making it bend, twist, stretch, smile, or frown.

Take time every few minutes to freeze the action in the room, allowing everyone to see how other mannequins look.

Place volunteer mannequins in front of the group one at a time until you have five or six, making a picture that captures a special scene or event.

It’s a good way to act out historical moments or literary adventures in the curriculum.

Join Me in my Boat

Materials Needed: None

Make a circle of chairs with one person in the middle as “it.” The person in the middle makes a statement such as, “Join me in my boat if you like chocolate ice cream.”

All students who also like chocolate ice cream get up and scramble to find another open seat.

The person who was “it” also finds a seat, and the new person left standing becomes “it.”

Guess What Changed

Materials Needed: None

Sit in a circle and choose one person to stand in the middle. Tell the class to look closely at the person in the middle and remember what they look like.

Ask the person in the middle to go out of view and change one thing about their appearance.

Once they are ready, have them come back to the center of the circle and have students around the circle guess what has changed.

Whoever gets it right gets to be the next person to change something!

Rainstorm

Materials Needed: None

Gather the class in a circle. Tell them that they are going to create a rainstorm. They need to close their eyes and listen carefully to the person sitting next to them because they will have to copy whatever that person is doing.

The leader starts by rubbing their hands together. Once the leader notices the whole circle is rubbing their hands, the leader starts to snap.

After snapping comes patting their lap. Continue with hand clapping and stomping feet. Then gradually reverse the order of the sounds until there is silence once again.

Knots

Materials Needed: None

Stand in a circle shoulder to shoulder. Ask everyone to reach out and grab two other hands from two different people not standing by your side.

Now the job is to untangle while remaining connected, so that everybody stands in a round circle again!

These are just 5 of many many more activities to choose from. To grab a pack of 64 Morning Meeting Activities, click here!
